braided flat wire connected to what?
i have a 97 d1 and can't figure out what the pipe on passenger side by tranny is connected to,there's a flat braided wire which i guess is from starter but when i follow the pipe back it ends pinched and bolted, the front by the wire is capped with a rounded bolt,it's kinda driving me nuts! any help would appreciate
i know it's all original and never been altered cause i've had truck for 20yrs,it's probably something simple but would like to know!

i think your right since it goes back to transfercase, just seemed like it would contain fluid but with nowhere to go that's got to be why it's there,i figured the strap was ground from starter, thanks for response or if we're both wrong maybe someone knows more!
the main reason i asked about the pipe was i see a small amount of coolant [green color] not really dripping but is there and was wondering where it might be coming from, the only thing above it might be the heater or could it be coming from the head which is forward of it,i noticed this when cleaning the ac drain tube and that's the only fluid i see dripping around there, appreciate any imput

The back intake coolant ports are blocked off by the intakes runner but it can leak past the valley pan gasket. Check the intake bolts for torque, 35 ft/lbs if I remember, aint much and usually loose as heck. The heads are not sided, in other words you can put the left on the right and vice versa, one head design fits both sides.
just went down to look at access to passenger manifold bolts but the back ones are hard to get a 13mm on, the coil and other piping block good access but i am going to try again and cinch them down
