Default Brake light confusion

So I have my first Disco i and am fixing some small issues that it had when I bought it. My biggest issue right now is brake lights. I have power at the switch, the 3rd light works fine and I have power at the connector on each side, but none at the socket. I have been looking for a wiring diagram without any luck. Does anybody know if there is a seperate ground just for the lower brake lights? I am hoping I am assuming since both are out it has to be a ground of some sort.

Thanks

Check the bulb sockets. The brake light ones get melted and corroded.

The sockets look good, I actually interchanged them with the other lights and all worked well. I am getting power at the pin connector, but it doesn't make it down to the socket. I'm going to try and do a ground jummper to see if thats the issue, but I just thought it would be odd to have a ground for each light in the assemble instead of just one for the entire assembly.

I don't think the brake light socket is interchangeable as it has a running light function and a brake light function. It is the only socket that is different in the brake light housing.

There is a very good possibility I am confused. Is the brake light the bottom light on the light assembly. Also the side marker lights on the rear bumper, are those brake lights also ( one is off and I was looking at it earlier )

I'm thinking I may need a manual for this thing

The only brake lights are the top sockets on the rear D pillar taillights and the 3rd in the window.

The bumper lights, side and back are running lights when the headlights are on.

The light socket you are trying to fix is the rear fog lamp. Turn on your headlights and then push in the fog switch on the left side of your gauges, 2nd one down. If they don't turn on or the switch does not light up, you probably have a bad switch.

Thanks abran,

You just saved me a huge headache. Hopefully it goes a lot smoother now that I know where I need to be looking.

Just a follow up. Both of the Brake sockets were a little crispy one more than the other. It looks like I can cleen up the assembly, but I have ordered new sockets and bulbs. So now on to the next project.
