Angry Brake lights and brake system

I just bought a 97 Discovery, and I love it, however, I can not get the passenger side brake light to work, the bulb is good. Also, when I push the brakes, sometimes, the brakes grind, and it doesn't want to stop, although the pads are good.... HELP!!! Any info would be greatly appreciated!! Thank you!!

Frozen caliper pistons?
And no clue on he brake lights. My front passenger turn signal doesn't work and I just replaced the bulb. From my understanding so far the electronics on our Rovers suck..

Check your fuses. There is a separate fuse for left/right sides.

First can you better describe the "grinding" noise you hear?
I am betting it is the ABS system you hear.
Can you feel the brake pedal pushing back against your foot?
When this happens do you hear a ratcheting type of sound?

Default brakes

It almost feels as if you are driving a car with no pads left, although the pads are fine, and it has only done it briefly 3 times now, but it makes me nervous to drive. If you let off the brake and pump it again, it is fine. And while it is doing this, it doesn't want to stop, as if there are no brakes. Does anyone know where I can get a diagram of the fuses?

Is this the part where everybody puts their input on the ABS and how crappy it is? Long story short, pull the fuse under the hood. It's what everybody will tell you except a few.

Exactly, when it is grinding, like it has no pads (thats the sensation it feels like), it doesn't want to stop, like you are sliding on ice, when the tires stop, but the Rover keeps going.

i have a 96 disco and i had the same problem with my passenger brake light. the bulb was good. what happens is the housing get so hot cause the running lights and the brake lights r on the same bulb and so close to the top of the housing that it actually starts to melt and warp everything and cant get a good connection. i needed a new housing. the dealer wanted $118 for a new one. columbia rover sold me a used on for $45. they said it was a very common problem. hopefully for u its just a bad fuse
