Braking issues
I have had new rotors, new calipers (due to faulty master cylinder) and new brake pads (due to faulty master cylinder).
My Disco 1 still has problems stopping on occasion. I hear like a grunt and then it keeps moving even though the brake pedal is depressed. Originally. I was having a slow stopping problem and I was sold an aftermarket master cylinder. The first one froze up causing all kinds of damage.
The second one is installed but still having problems. except that this grunting noise is new. I took it to specialist mechanic and he seems to think the master cylinder is wrong for vehicle. Oreilly's, the auto store, says it is the correct one. However, when I ordered it they told me it was original factory part. Now I find out it is generic to fix 5 years of Discos.
After the mess with faulty master cylinder, the ABS light wouldn't go off but the specialist clean the ABS pads and now the ABS light is working properly.
Could the master cylinder be the problem??
