Default 50th Anniversary

I am the original owner of this truck and it doesn’t have the plaque or the stripe. It does have the floor mats in the front and in the cargo area that have the 50th embroidered. I still have the window sticker that shows the 50th package and what is in that package I have all the brochures from that time that explain this vehicle as well as the RR P38 that is a 50th also. In all the brochures, books, whatever the dealer had in 1998 I have it and none of them say anything about these having dash plaques or pinstripes from the factory. Anyway this truck is still my current daily driver with it just turning 200K and it drives as well as it did when I drove it home from the dealer in 98.

Paul, if you put your VIN into CarFax's decoder HERE, does it come back as being a 50th? I've been trying to figure out if there is something in the VIN that denotes the anniversary edition. I've entered VINs for several '98s and some do, other's don't. Mine does, even though it is not. Admittedly, it is an odd duck with the majority of LSE trim even though it's an LE.

I had a 98 50th Anniversary Edition in Woodcote Green and it did not have that # plate on the dash. From what I read it was a dealer thing vs a LR thing. I have my original window sticker and it clearly list 50th Anniversary Package option so I know without a shadow of a doubt it was a true legit 50th vs just the 50th sticker in the back windows.

Can you check the VIN with the link I posted above? I’m curious to know if it shows it as being an anniversary edition.

Says LE, but that's not even correct as it's an LSE. Carfax isn't going to have a clue on a LR Specific special model to be honest. The Window Sticker list the 50th Anniversary Special Edition which was 1,000.00 added to the normal sticker price of 38,000.00 for a grand total of 39,625.00 with the 625.00 Inland Transportation fee.

50th Anniversary Special Edition Package Specs:
Bahama Leather Seat Facing with Lightstone piping
TWR Alloy Wheels
Custom 50th Anniversary Floor & Cargo Mats

My 98 also had a set of factory rear jump seats installed at the dealership, and the TWR wheels were swapped out for Boost Alloy wheels for an additional cost. I know this because I had bought it from the original owner and he had all that stuff installed before taking delivery of it.

I’m just curious why running the VINs of some through there will say 50th while others do not.

Mine is definitely not. But it’s an LE with the majority of the LSE trim. It has chrome bumpers, stainless door handles, Lightstone interior, wood trim, Boost wheels, brush bar, light guards, Safari lights. It doesn’t have painted end caps and mirrors, no jump seats. It’s Beluga Black, and the windows have a different tint so I had to have one tinted to match when it was replaced. The dealer said that glass was only available on the black 98s, so hard to come by? I’m the second owner and the previous owner didn’t save the window sticker.

From what I understand all 50th Edition D1's in the USA were Woodcote green just like the Range Rover P38 50th. Black, British Racing Green, White Gold, and that odd dark blue = all LSE trim spec which had chrome bumpers, nice door cards with wood on them, wood skateboard vs rubber mat, boost wheels, bumper end caps painted to match body color along with the mirrors, and the Lightstone seat color with bahama piping.
