Hey thx. Most of the Discos I've seen on here don't have the brush guard. Is new powder coating the best way to redo it? Whatever is on it shot. I seen rust all over it so it will need to be sandblasted.

When I found my used one, before putting it on, I treated the rust by painting over it with the fantastic black Por 15 paint; no sand blasting, etc. needed, because the Por 15 treats the rust; sealing it forever. But, Por 15 will deteriorate from ultraviolet (sun light), so an overcoat must be put on that, so I used rubberized truck bed coating. Both were simply put on with brush. Worked great for me, with several years now on the coatings. Por 15 is unlike any other paint I have ever seen or used; it gives a hard coating tougher than hell, though expensive, but worth it. Do a google search or look on ebay for Por15.

The problem with the factory brush guard is more about the internal rust that comes from the inside out.
