buying a 98 discovery question
So after taking a good look, driving it around, testing the center diff, having the mechanic take a thorough look, talking with the wife, and a couple hours of back and forth internal wrestling I believe I'm going to take the plunge.
Its actually in pretty decent condition. The body panels and paint are practically flawless. Did a carfax and it has pretty decent service records. The worst part about it is the interior. The leather is in decent condition, but the headliner is sagging and unglued in spots. It has the issues with the locks that I read about and the rear windows wont go down, but all things that are easy to fix I understand.
Plus I live in a small town and talked to someone else who has a 96 Discovery and he tells me my mechanic is the man to go to with Rover issues and he'll usually tell ya how to do it or show ya, so I've got some resources for any future problems. So wish me luck and I'm sure I'll be dropping by here every now and then.

If you do buy it here is a link to help with rear windows.

Well i live by thisl; "If it has **** for tires it will give you trouble" so to me it doesn't really matter what it is just as long as i love the car i don't care. I just bought one myself and i instantly fell in love with the horrible gas milage, continues wrenching and all the headaches and pains. but you know what to me its worth every minute of it.
I come from a long relationship with Jeeps. all CJ's of some sort. Jeep " Just empty every pocket " so far my 99 D1 has done better then all my jeeps i have ever owned.
