can I run a 31x11.50x16 on a stock wheel?
I have have the 5 spoke 96 wheels, how wide is that wheel and will a set of 31x11.50x16 be too big?

Yes they will fit with no lift but they will not stuff into your wheel wells, but if you haven't upgraded your diffs dont do it. You'll actully have to much traction and less steering radius unless you use wheel spacers then you more than likely will have wheel berring problems. So when you go with a wider tire you break stock ****! I would go with a 8" to 10" tire it will ride better and you won't break stock drivetrain as much as you would with the wide 11.5" tire. I had 11.5s on my D1 and RRC and wish I had run narrower 10" plus they are cheaper and lighter. I have 2" of lift now with cut fenders and flex flairs and I run bfg km2 mt, 255/85/16 or 33x10x16 the tread is 6.8 or 7 the cross section is 10" but the tread is 7". This tire is perfect for this lift on a D1. My two cents
The width of your wheel will be stamped on the wheel, most likely a n 8" but could be a &".
As for the diffs, don't go that large till you go to lockers and gears, the factory diff only has 2 spider gears and won't stand up to a hard trail with that large a tire, and yes, a lift and possibly some trimming may be required.

I was thinking the same thing. This tire isn't even quite as tall as a 265/75R16, although it is about an inch wider.
It's Discomike.. you expect him to know what he is talking about?
