Can I put 245/75/16s on a stock alloy 8 inch wheel?
I've learned more about tires in the last few days on this forum than I would have thought possible. But I am still stumped by one matter:
I have a 2000 disco (no lift) with 18 inch wheels that I want to replace. I got a good deal on stock alloy wheels from one source though I have not gone thru with the sale yet. From another source, I have a good deal on some tires in the size I want: 245/75/16s from another source. Will these fit on an 8" or do I need to go with a 7"l?
Thank you so much for any light that you can shed on this subject!

I think typically 245 is a bit too small for an 8" rim. I've read the max rim width for 245 is 7.5".
You could use 255/70r16, which is about the same height as a 245/75 but a tiny bit wider.

The source I checked before I put them on my truck listed 8" as the maximum width for 245/75/16 tires. It is the size that the previous owner had installed on the 8 inch wide wheels as well. I'm happy with my results.
