Default can't find a test for

I was looking through the RAVE manual, and I can't find a test for the HVAC blower motor resistor. Does anyone know if there is a test?

When I turn on the blower motor, all I'm getting is a click. It used to run on one speed only, now, not at all... I hope it's just the resistor, as the blower motor appears to be pricey.

the switch (fan speed) tests good.

ok, back out to it...

any and all (on and off topic) suggestions welcome!

ok, NOW, back out to it.

There are contacts inside the switch and they are a common fault, they can be cleaned.
90% of the time it is the fan speed switch.
I have no idea how to test the fan.

Unplug the blower motor and run wires straight from the battery to test it. Bypass everything. The resistor can be tested like any resistor. You just need to know what value your looking for. If it is the motor. I have one cheap.

how cheap is cheap?

I have a "working" blower motor now, for how long, I dunno.

I pulled the brushes out filed them down, cleaned up the surface they ride on, and it works.

cleaned the contacts in the switch while I had it apart, still only one speed. I think I need the resistor.

the A/C blows ice cold though!

$15 plus $10 shipping. Came out of my 97D1. Where is this resistor your talking about? Is it on the motor somewhere?

Done. do you paypal or do you want me to mail you a money order.

The resistance pack is located on the HVAC unit.

Here is what I have. Can't find the resistor pack, must not have pulled it off my 97D1.

In the electrical troubleshooting guide. Section K1, page 6, shows the diagram of the resistor module, should have 4 wires. It would appear pin 1 to pin 2 would read a single resistor and what looks like a fuse of some sort. Pin 2 to Pin 3 reads across another resistor. Pin 3 to Pin 4 reads across the third resistor. So reading pin 1 to any other pin should have a reading. And any that don't indicate an open. Normally when you open something like this up it is either coils of wire, or the resistors are burned beyond being able to read the values.

If you short pin 4 and pin 1, it should blow on full speed until replacement parts arrive.
