Cat delete?
I believe that there should be 50 state emissions testing on all cars and light trucks that are 15 years old or newer.
You cannot renew your license plate unless you pass emissions testing, that is what I believe.
Environmental responsibility is everyone's responsibility.
However once the cats reach certain age even though there may not be a trouble code they are in no way doing their job effectively.
Most people do not drive 15 yr old cars, and if they do they drive them very little because lets face it, most 15+ yr old cars are not reliable.
And the people who do drive a 15 yr old car by choice probably cannot afford to pay for emissions testing anyway, thats why they drive a old car.
The rest of us who drive old cars do it because we like old cars, are enthusiasts or have it modified for off road use only and it will never have or need a valid registration.
That is what I believe.
wow, suprised so many people are for or against it. I usually don't get anything from anyone about anything! BTW cats are definitely off, and i got cash in hand for them, just for anyone who is interested, the pass. side one practically worthless, (square normal looking one) and the Driver's side one, (the bad one in my case) is the funny looking round one, it apparently has more precious metals, I basically got $80 for it, and only $20 for the other. And about$20 worth of exhaust tubing, and I have gas money, and beer money for the weekend! And i don't care what anyone says, because i did notice a little more pickup/throttle response on the bottom end, (not much, but noticable nonetheless) and it doesn't sound like a Cadillac Escalade with flowmasters either! It still has to Y into an enormous muffler, then go to the back of the truck, to suprise! Another muffler.
Now don't everyone just rip off their cats for some "phantom, seat of the pants difference in power" cuz some dood on the internet said so, it has to be true! I'm saying in MY case, it did make an improvement, and mine had all the 'honeycomb' innerds intact, and probably plugged! I also have access to a shop, welder, and all the tools i need, for all the improvements i want, whenever i want. So if u live somewhere emission laws are lax, you may consider doing this in ADDITION to a full oversized single, or dual equal length exhaust for maximizing what little power you may scavange from your poor little Rover V8! But just to cut them out from the factory setup, ya, it's not worth the hassle!
