Default Changed plugs and wires, check engine light on now

As the title says. I installed Champion Copper plugs and OmniSpark 7mm wires. Now when I start the Disco, the check engine light stays on, the tachometer needle doesn't move, and there is a rich fuel smell. I didn't have any of these issues prior to doing the work. Ok maybe I had a slight fuel smell before, but it seems much stronger now. Any suggestions?

A good start would be replacing those wimpy 7mm wires with 8mm. I had put 7mm on mine and couldn't figure out why it was running like crap until reading all the posts regarding the 8mm, didn't think it would make a difference until I actually did it...

Okay, so the tach wasn't working because I unknowingly knocked a connector from the alternator. Tach is working now. Can't find any 8mm wires locally and don't have time to wait for them to be shipped. I definitely plan on picking up some 8mm when the timing is more convenient, but until then....As far as codes, I don't yet have a reader. And it's a 1994 3.9L.

Advance Auto, or Autozone, or Pep Boys, or any crappy generic parts chain store or a decent independent local guy will read the codes for you, for freeeee. But they balk at resetting the CEL, something about legalities, tuned it out... anyway, it may give you a head start on things.

that's it. does it display the codes when you turn the key on? there may be some sequence involved, a quick Google search or forum search should be pretty enlightening

Man I knew that little device ha to be useful for something. Code 12. Airflow Meter. I tried cleaning the MAF sensor after the CEL light came on. And yes I used MAF cleaner.
