Default Cherry Bombed The Rover..........Drone?

I really dont know why I did this, im not a exhaust guy in anyway.. I just wanted to see what it was like so I picked up a 29.5" x 2.5 glasspack. 30$

Took it to a shop and installed it for another 30$

I was so nervous to start it, I was thinking it was going to sound retarded.

Started it up and it sounded VERY good. Not a crisp sound like my friends 5.4 chevy with straight dual pipes. But a nice good rumble. Not too loud at ALL!!

Perfect sound at idle, knew what was next. Time to check it at speed. Still sounded great. UNTILL....

I got on interstate, as soon as the rpms hit 2200 and all the way to 2600 rpms you get a pretty annoying drone. If I knew I would be doing this I probably would have kept the resonator on. But its long gone..

Anyways. I wanted to report that it SOUNDS GREAT. untill I guess it resonates. Soo.. Any ideas as to how to de resonate this thing?

Whew!! I was thinking about doing this too.
They offer a Cherry Bomb glasspack with a 3 or 4 bolt flange that should just bolt right up so I was half assed thinking about it.
Glad I waited.

Can you post some audio of the drone?

I never found any cheap recording systems to really capture an accurate sound.. I have to say it sounds PERFECT at idle. Slightly loud at acceleration [because of 2200rpm drone.] Just at highway speeds you get this over bassy. Sound. It cuts off right under 2200 and right above 2700 so I can either drive 60mph EVERYWHERE or get up to 75-80mph.

We need a part number or a link to it.

I have a thought, how about trying some dynamat around the muffler area, exhaust shouldn't be too hot back there and it should absorb the resonant frequencies. maybe a piece around the hangers too.

maybe.. One thing I noticed is cracking the windows significatly reduces the drone.. Not quite sure why.
