Default CKPS heat shield

Was going to swap out my crank position sensor last night but couldn't get the heat shield to come loose. It wiggled around on there but I didn't see a fastener retaining it. Didn't want to pry on it and risk breaking it if there was a hidden screw on there holding it on. Is there something I'm missing? I know the D2 bosch sensor heat shield is held on by a couple of bolts, but didn't see anything on my GEMS motor.

I forget if there are one or two, but there are definitely bolt(s) holding that thing on.

And if I remember correctly, you couldn't see them very well when working from the ground.

Might be buried in gunk.

Yes, If I remember right there are two fasteners for the crank sensor and one of them also goes through the shield. Have fun.

p.s. Check the harness wiring.

Thanks, managed to get it out last night. The upper of the two bolts that hold the CKPS secures the heat shield. Funny you mention checking the CKPS wiring here's what mine looked like at the plug:

Gads! Yep, mine looked like that but had a little more to work with above the connector. Soldered in a splice and used a bunch of heat shrink.

Could of sworn that I read someone on this forum that the Crank Sensor connector is the same as another, common connector on the truck.
