MELTED VACUUM LINE NEAR HEAT SHIELD?
Hello all,
While removing the drain plug from the right side of the engine to perform a coolant flush, I noticed this vacuum line melted against the heat shield. It was unplugged and I have NO IDEA where it goes to or where it comes from. I am wondering if the other end might be sealed shut from melting. I don't sense a vacuum leak since my Disco has been running normal (from what I think) after purchasing it 1,500 miles ago. I'm trying to find this vacuum line in the RAVE CD but no resolve.
ANY SUGGESTIONS?

Do you have SAI? That kinda looks like the end of the hose that connects to the intake plenum. It's the smaller hose on the bottom with the 90* end.

Just checked... I do have SAI but that vacuum line you speak of is intact. I just can't imagine which vacuum line, (if any) would run so close to that heat shield. Unless one has been replaced and this one I found was the owner's poor attempt to discard it properly and just let if fall down in the engine bay... then it melted against the heat shield.... hmm....
Thanks.
Thanks.

It looks like the one from the vacuum unit. Does your cruise control work?
The vacuum unit is at the top back on the passenger side of your engine compartment. It looks like a black plastic coke can and should have a vacuum line going in one side and another coming out the opposite.

I checked all of that just now and everything is in its place. CC Works although in St. Croix you cant use it (no highways or roads long enough) =)
And the front axle breather hose runs out of the top of the axle, and right towards the driver side and up....
This piece of melted vacuum line is on the opposite side of the engine...
Well guys, as the saying goes, "If it aint broken, don't fix it." My Disco is running fine before and after I discovered the melted renegade line. No vacuum leaks anywhere... SO THANKS A BUNCH. If I do ever find it I'll reply to the post.
Thanks
