Default Code P0461 From Improperly Sealed Gas Cap?

I accidentally forgot to fully tighten my gas cap after fueling up from a road trip yesterday. About 5 miles down the road the Check Engine light came on, so I stopped, secured it properly and continued on home with the truck running normally.

Today I went to an Oreilly's and ran a scan. The only code that came up was P0461 "Generic: Fuel Level Sensor A Circuit Range/Performance."

There was no issue with the fuel level gauge.

I cleared it and after a 10-mile ride back home it never came on again.

Should I assume that was it?

Thanks!

P0461 - Fuel level rationality fault.

Stuck float, if not throwing the CEL again it's unstuck. Nothing to do with the cap not being tight. How high did you fill the tank?

Filled as full as the pump would allow. When it stopped I put another squirt or two in like I always do. Drove 20 miles yesterday and no light, so if it was stuck now it's not.

IIRC, the float is part of the pump, right?

I replaced my pump a 2-3 years ago.

Yep, float is a part of the pump. Two successive trips triggers the CEL so it wasn't just a one timer. If it comes up again then that's four trips and you'll know you gotta put eyeballs on it.
