Default Proper way to improperly start my DII?

Ok, so wrapped up my DIY HG job, and am now suffering with a gremlin.
A starter will not spin with the key gremlin.
But before I spend more weeks and more money on the gremlin, I want to make sure the DIY job worked.
Everything seems to work as normal, so I want to know the proper proceedure to jump the starter and get this thing to run.
If it fires and sounds ok, then back to my gremlin.

So what do I jump on the starter to get it to spin?
Please help me.

So here is what I found out. In under hood fuse box there is a row of relays. One is marked SM for starter motor, the other has a 1980's service station fuel pump on it, for the fuel pump. I removed both relays, and used two short pieces of 16g wire for jumpers. On each relay the rear and front terminals are jumpped across.

So turn key to II posistion, jump fuel pump relay(continuous jump for now), then jump starter relay long enuf for the engine to start.

You may or may not need to jump the fuel pump relay. I had to do it because the computer was shutting it off 1 second after start. Soon as I did this and let it run for a few minutes the gremlin was evicted from the system and truck now operates correctly.

No start, will not crank, nothing happens when I turn the key <search

Before you do anything, double check your crank position sensor. If the sensor is bad or isn't connected properly the engine wont kick over.

Ok, so I am still learning.
You are saying:

If the crank position sensor is disconnected. the ECU will notice and then
the starter will not engage?

It will crank/turn over without the crank sesnor, it just won't start. You should be able to jumper the starter solenoid at the starter, or an easier and safer way might be to jumper the starter relay, in the under hood fuse box.

Take a screw driver and touch the power wire and the solenoid wire on the starter.
She will spark and the starter will turn over.
But odds are it will not kick out the ring gear and engage the flywheel.
Its still fun to do though.

It should engage the start just like normal, other than the sparks. That's all the ignition switch, starter relay, bcu, etc does. It just applies power to that solenoid.

True.
Almost everyone I've ever done it to never started, maybe because the starter was bad?

Cool, seems like the normal routine then.
Thanks

I used the fuse box method, it cranks and ran for a sec.
Thx for the tip!
