Today..i had to jump my landy twice..it started up fine originally..went to walmart...had a little problem but started...my wife started it later...went to lowes...and when it tried to start it didnt even turn..it just had a relay sound trtrtrtrtr like that...jumped it...drove it a bit....got home...shut it off...5 min later i wanted to start it...same thing relay sound trtrtrtrtrttrt....what gives? It has been really cold about 20*, havent tested the battery (it is a cheapo 1 year warranty battery) but I figured that i drove it for 10 min or so the battery would have at least has some charge in it to start...

 

Classic cheap battery condition. Either dropped a cell or isn't high enough CCA's. Any auto parts place will test it free and probably even install the new one free.

 

575cca is whats rated...they checked the battery and it tested good..alternator read 12.93-13 volts at idle

 

i,ve got a bit of trouble too . and i payed £70 for a new battery yesterday this morning it didnt start had to boost it , once started it goes great all day only in the mornings it s**t at starting . seems to be draining over night any ideas .? also whats cca,s ?

 

575 CCA might be enough with a brand new truck, but as things get corrosion, it takes quite a bit more to get the job done. Check all grounds and leads from the battery. It might be as simple as the leads are corroded inside the insulation.

 

800 CCA is much better.
As for the voltage, 13.6 to 14.4 is required, your high 12 volt range won't cut it.

 

Your serpentine belt is routed wrong I am going to say.
Look it up in the tech section, it can be wrong but look right and if this is the case your alt will not put out enough charge to keep the battery full.
