Cold starting TDI problems
Hi,
Can anyone help with difficult starting on a 300 tdi 1995 discovery. Engine otherwise fine I think as just done 2000 miles in 3 days no bother. Done about 110000. Its also a jap import if that makes any odds and is an edc? model.
The vehicle is fairly new to me, but prob seems to be getting worse. Previous owner replaced cambelt. New glow plugs fitted. It fires first time but now always stalls and requires 3 or four attempts before starting. Then runs smoothly.
Any help greatly appreciated as the vehicles has to do another 2000 miles shortly.
Thanks

Thanks for those ideas. I know the plugs are doing something as the battery voltage drop when the plugs light is on? I will check the fuel issues though.
I'm fairly far north (orkney north of scotland uk) but same fault happens in warm ish temp or when very cold. Maybe a block heater would be good too... I like the diesel preheaters but they are expensive!
