Default Courtesy light frustrations!!!!

The Courtesy light in my 96 stopped coming on when you opened the drivers door. Still worked with all the other doors. So I pulled the plunger from the jamb. The wire had worked loose. I can see the wire and can even grab it with some forceps but there is no slack in it. I looked under the dash but it seems you cant get to that wire without breaking the dash down. Does anyone have any other ideas on how I can get to it? I even thought about trying to get a mini alligator clamp on it to wire a jumper on, but not sure how permanent that would be. If I touch the forceps to the body and the wire then the light comes on so I know thats what the problem is.

Try taking the side. Kick pannel out to get to it?

Yes, I took off the kick panel and both of the lower dash panels. Neither offer any help. The wire actually comes in from above and is inside the A pillar. It looks like if I pulled the fuse panel and all the junk around it I could probably find it, but I am not interested in messing with that stuff on a rover. I would probably create more gremlins. I have thought about drilling a hole above the plunger and try to use some needle nose and a clamping wire splicer to add to it?
