Default Crashed my 98 Disco

Well this happened last week. I was going down a fairly steep hill on a rural two lane road during the first snowfall of the year.I was braking fairly lightly, and then hit a patch of black ice under the snow and lost it. I slid into the other lane, sideswiped a Honda Civic going the other way, started spinning around and around and around and slid all the way down to the bottom of the hill and into a guard rail hitting driver front corner first. Absolutely zero traction. It was so slippery that when I got out I immediately slipped and fell on my ***. Luckily no one was hurt, although the Civic was a write off.
I don't have collision coverage on the Disco, so I just had it towed home. In a bit of a conundrum as to what to do with it (they are very rare here on the right coast of Canada, as the frames (and other bits) rust like crazy due to salted roads and salt air) I tried a quick FB marketplace search for LR Disco 1.
Lo and behold! I find a supposedly running and driving 96 SD with a 98 LE for parts, both 4.0 autos. I drove the 3 hour drive there only to find that the 96 ran very poorly and didn't stop at all. It was also quite rough with both rust and accident damage. I still made a deal with the owner to buy them at a steep discount. Between the two, there's enough parts to fix mine.
I still have to trailer them the 3+ hours home, and I probably wont get to fixing it until spring. It's winter here in Canada, and my garages are already full, They will all have to sit outside until then.
The accident was a drag, but at least I can again save this Disco. It was so flawless towing a car trailer from Canada to Florida and back that I just couldn't let it go. I guess I'm really gone now, Lol!

Cheers!

Phil

Ouch!

Glad no one was hurt. Nice to find a couple of parts cars. Parts cars are always worth it in my mind.

Pleasant enough you walked away from the impact.
You'll soon have another running D1.

Griff, that is a damn shame....but I'm sure it'll buff right out!

Glad you weren't injured and looking forward to the resurrection!

Never sell a D1, running or not. Find you another and have spare parts galore.
