I have the same issue. Of course check fuses, etc. I also checked power to the switch...all to no avail.

check the vacuum lines at the drivers side firewall in the engine compartment there should be a T where 3 lines meet. just replace them thats what i did and now it works fine.

The cruise control vacuum pump and tubing often gets clogged up. Check that.

If it will not light up at all and the fuses are good, then it is a cruise ECU issue, replace it.

Where is the cruise ECU physically located? I'd like to check mine for loose connections, etc.

Might it not be the switch itself? I've replaced nearly all my dash/binacle switches over they years.

Cruise control ECU is behind the glove box. It has several friends packed in there with it.

So if I don't even get a light (it is the one with a road and a skateboard in the middle right?) then what are my first steps to diagnosis? I check the power first?

I don't get a light either. I also don't have any cruise components left under the hood. Might want to check to see if your cruise wasn't removed by a PO.
