Cruise Control Fail and Speedometer Fail
Hey Everyone,
was on a long 12-hour drive tonight when my cruise control cut out twice. A couple of minutes later Speedometer went to zero, then started flopping around. After about ten minutes speedometer normalized and began working again.
I’m thinking this is a faulty Vehicle Speed Sensor, but was hoping ya’ll would weigh in.
RPM, Temp, and Fuel functioned normally throughout all of this.
thanks

When y VSS acted up, speed would drop to about 35 MPH and after a bit would start working again. Some sort of limp mode I guess. speedometer would work but OBDII readout was crazy spikes. replacing the VSS took care of it. Cruse never worked on mine.
yes, VSS. Also, do yourself a favor and get a 6" 3/16 hex tool. The parking brake cable and other assorted stuff will prevent short hex sockets from into the hex head bolt which holds the VSS in place. Something like this.....
I spent 40 frustrating minutes doing something that should have taken 5 because I did not have one.
