Curious about O2 sensors.....
May sound stupid but if you were running rich due to bad wires and plugs and started throwing O2 codes and replaced the wires and plugs is there a way to clean the O2 sensors? Like I said I am sure it sounds stupid but stupid questions educate the stupid.
bad wires and plugs won't make it run rich just have weak or intermittent spark that would cause unburnt gas to get into the exhaust. the fuel air mixture is controled by a signal from the O2s along with other signals like air temp, fuel temp, maf sensor, ect.
Try this.
I am going to use it in my wifes car, its $10 at AutoZone.

I used some CRC MAF Cleaner I had left over from doing my maf sensor.Way back i had a vacuum leak, putting black soot through the exhaust. I used it to spray down my o2 sensors, didn't cause any harm/throw any codes. But do at you're own risk.
Thanks guys. The reason I asked was because I had seen 2 other posts (on the DII side) that referred to problems with their O2 sensors. Several posts and outside website references referred to running rich which would set off O2 codes and that was what got me thinking along that track. It was just curiosity. Not a problem I am encountering. My O2's were shot and needed replacement. Anyway thanks!
PS. Tweakrover I believe that sending unburned fuel down the line was what they meant by running rich. I used their terms but I understand what you mean. There is a difference and I just didn't think about it.
