Default Current Project

Always wanted a winch bumper, so last week instead of ordering one, i built one myself. The main bumper is A36 Steel Channel 7 x 2 x .210 (9.8#) welded to A500 Steel Structural Square Tube 3 X 3 X 1/4 wall frame extensions bolted to frame with Grade 8 bolts. Winch sits on a 1/4" pre fabbed winch plate we had to modify for use. D rings are 15,000# welded to bumper face at extension locations. Winch was mounted as low as possible, but entire Assembly is actually higher than stock bumper, so more ground clearance. Need to fab up a skid plate to protect steering.

Nice Job. Much lower than I would want but it looks pretty good. I always commend people that can fabricate things. I couldn't do that for sure.

That's a bit heavy...LOL That would look right at home on a Superduty haha... Good job though,I like seeing personal projects come together. My first Disco bumper didn't come out so hot. I'm workin on a new design.

that bumper is not bad looking just need to remove that whole front bit and it looks like a slimline from Rovertym or TF.

Nice job. I like the old cowcatcher front ends they used on locomotives. Maybe one of those push bumpers like some law enforcement and tow trucks use.

Massive unit. How does that weight affect handling and such? Do you have heavy duty springs up front?

I have seen old trucks with 2 by 12's or even logs mounted on the front.

handling isnt to different, but you can tell there is an extra 200 lbs up front.

Stock springs, a set oh HD springs are on their way. It crunches the front pretty good. Wish i had taken some before and after measurements to see just how far it sunk.

Hell, I'm trying to sell this bumper so I can start building another one.
