Cutty Sark Whiskey Case Center Console
Guys,
I am trying to finish up my new center console replacement for the original one that did not survive my CDL Refurb.
Its an original wooden case used to import 12 fine bottles of Cutty Sark Scotch Whiskey from that fine city in SCOTLAND by the Berry Bros, wine merchants appointed by Her Royal Majesty, the Queen of England. It says so right on the side of the case. I found this in my wife's grandfathers garage. It's from the 1930's or 40's.
What I am in real need of is the backer panel that supports the four window switches, 2 seat heater switches and the window isolation switch.
I have the front cover panel that has the clearance holes for each switch, but am missing the back panel.
Does anyone have an extra one or a donor disco part that they would like to donate to a good cause, trade for other parts, or sell cheap?
I made mounting panels for the seat adjustment switches out of some real pretty hardwood veneer that I retreived from a Macy's that was being remodeled. It is amazing what they toss out from Macy's. "I love Macy's, You can get anything you want at Macy's." from Miracle on 34th Street.
I also have a need for the little covers for the passenger's seat switch that look like the bottom cushion and the seat back.
If you're parting one out and don't want much for switches, I'll take a few of them as well. Let me know.

https://landroverforums.com/forum/pr...ccepted-44190/ CALL HIM. I just talked to him and hes a real nice guy. His parts are quite reasonable as well .
I guess I could call Paul and see if he has a pile of them. And a set of seat buttons, I was amazed how much those are at Rover's North and lord help you if you need a new seat switch, you can buy a laptop for the price of one seat switch with the covers before you even add tax and shipping.
Anybody got a parts vehicle with these in it? Let me know.
I got to spend a little time tyding up the wiring before I take some pics. It's a real mess. I know how some of you LR guys are about having a pristine interior. I picked up a few pieces of white polished marble along with some black, some deep gray with a nice texture to it as well. It was amazing what they threw in the roll-off while they were remodeling the local Macy's at Monroeville Mall. That was where they filmed Night Of the Living Dead by the way.
I thought I might do a marble floor for both the driver and passenger's side to dress it up a little.
I also want to reposition those fuses that currently reside on the drivers seat side rail, what were they thinking when they laid out the electrical system on these beast... I found some small wire wrap tie down blocks that are made to mount with a center screw. I had these from being an electrician way back in the 70's. There was a big handful in my old toolbox. So I mounted some inside the case to help route that wiring. Now I want to tackle some of the rest of that internal wiring fiasco they built in merry old England.
I will do some pics again soon. I had really let the thing go for a while, but go to take advantage of these next few warm sunny afternoons.
Have fun with your Rovers, just don't flip them over. Or kill them, if you do kill them, do it slowly so you can enjoy it.
I might have a spare but the one from Atlantic British is 9.95 and I am sure some freight: how much is one of mine worth?
Well as it turns out, I no longer am in need of the Switch Bezel Backing board.
I ended up doing some creative mounting of the seat heater switches and the window isolation switch in a small piece of the matching wood veneer that I mounted the seat switches in to mount beside one of them.
The window switches are tucked in to a piece of rail;work that I made from a couples of pieces of corner molding that I had left over. A couple of pieces are glued in place and tacked. A couple of key pieces are cut so tight that they are force fit, wedged into place by hand after careful sanding and fitting such that if disassembly is required in the future, I can remove a couple of pieces and easily remove the switches.
It all fit neatly but tightly under the console padded lid that I remounted on the front half of the whiskey case. A little touch up and a little tweaking, it should be done tomorrow.
I will be so glad to get the thing done. It took a while to get the creative juices flowing. I sat there looking at it and communed with it as I sipped some Scotch on the Rocks and got the feel for just how to finish it all up.
I keep looking at those fuses mounted under the drivers seat and those wire bundles and asking myself just what should I do with them?
