Default D1 Seat Resto Painting Rubberized Plastic

I have a set of tan D1 SD manual seats I want to have them recovered. Has anyone attempted to paint the exposed rubber/plastic head rests? I want them satin black.

Let me know how it works out for you and your thoughts. Been kicking around picking some up for a few projects I have in mind.

It has a lot of positive reviews out there so I think it would be just the ticket

Does anyone know if those pieces come off the seat? I can't see anyway for them to be attached. But I don't want to strip the seat before the upholstery guy gets it.
