D2 ARB fit on a D1?
I just came across a badass deal on a Discovery 2 ARB and winch. Will it fit my D1 with some slight modification, or is it more work than it's worth? Thanks amigos
Some of you all may have seen this post on D'web, but due to lack of responses and urgency, I figured I'd bring it to my "home" forum, lol. This forum beats all the others..

If you have either the skills or the money, sure you can get it to "fit". How it will look, I don't know. I've seen DI ARB's on RRC's and RRC ARB's on DI's. There were gaps or trimming done to body panels to get those to work. That may be the least of what's required to use a DII ARB on a DI. The way the two models mount their bumpers to the frame rails are a bit different whereas the DI and RRC are identical.
i just answered your question on Dweb. here is my answer for this forum.
yes it will fit. the D2 uses 2 horizontal stock mount holes where the D1 uses 3 horizontal stock mount holes. if the ARB is for a D2 it will have only 2 mount holes that are horizontal and one that is vertical that requires drilling. the frame widths and everything are exactly the same. if you were putting a D1 ARB on a D2 you would have to trim the mounting tabs for that third horizontal mounting hole as the D2 has angular supports on the front of the frame that block where that third horizontal mounting hole would be. I suggest you do go ahead with that vertical mounting hole and I would use grade 8 1/2" thick hardware. the stock bolts are too thin and weak.
