Default d2 front driveshaft on d1

OK I have a nice rebuilt d2 front shaft sitting here and I want it to go on my d1 , I am aware the transfer case flange is different, now instead of me getting a d2 flange for the case can I just swap the flange on the drive shafts? Or are the u joint a different size

This would make it a direct fit drop in for my d1

Come on ihscouts I know you know the answer lol

I think I've got a spare D2 flange with the 1.4 transfer case I just bought.

U-J's same same on both models. Unfortunately that's as far as I got in school........ this is funny cuz I have a DII shaft sitting under the bench that I've completely forgotten about until THIS........ I finally get in my PJ's and you want me to go out to the barn and look!

I believe the D1's flange pushes the joint out further from the mount flange than the DII's cuz the DII has ears removed where the dc would touchy poo the flange when pointed earthward/skyward.

This is a Fish-eh question now.........

Me thinks this means...... uh no, they don't just swap without the correct output flange.

Not sure. But what most do is swap the tcase output flange. Since I don't have a v8, I don't know if I can even run a D2 driveshaft, so the d2 flange woukd be surplus to my needs, if a D2 shaft is the wrong length for my vehicle.

I guess I need to crawl under there and see what the distance is flange to flange on my front driveshaft.

I was just thinking, going to rovers on the rocks this weekend, would be nice to get that new front shaft installed and that was in my mind the easiest, I of course thought of it after I got out of shower and in my jammies so...

If anyone needs a front output flange, I have several in stock.

I could be wrong but I believe the larger flange is functional due to the the big *** knuckle right next to the flange. It pushes the bolts outward so you can get a wrench on them. I don't see how you'd get the bolt in and out to remove the shaft if the bolts were in the position of the D1 flange.
