Damn diesels
When I worked at the new Cruise Missile Factory in Titusville Florida in the early 80's, we had a major incident a work for a few days. Hundreds of cars in the parking lot ended up with minute white paint droplets misting onto their cars.
A big investigation was held and the company ended up with a few hundred claims for damaged paint jobs. They blamed an outside contractor that was spraying the new chilling towers that had just been installed for the added on floor space. The poor guy went broke paying for damages that they said were overspray on Friday of the previous week.
My brand new to me 79 Datsun 280ZX 2+2 had white specles all over the choclate brown roof and the gold racing stripes. I had just purchased the Z car on the Saturday after the contractor finished spraying the cooling towers on Friday when my Z was still sitting on the dealers lot 60 miles away in Orlando.
When I pointed that fact out to our new HR Manager, he got really upset and told me that if I made an issue of that it would not be good for either of us. Another woman in my work group was married to the maintenance tech that was iun charge of the new buildings daily maint activities. He told her that the new paint booth for the missile production area had a problem with the filters in the exhaust fan system
being blown out of place while they were painting missiles and they had to keep shutting it down and fooling with the filtration system.
It turned out that the white speckles kept on appearing for several more days. We all got settlements for paint damage. I was able to use Mugires Paste Wax and polish off the spots on mine.
Call your insurance ompany and see if it is covered under your policy.

I would be covered by my insurance Danny, no doubt about that.
Lowrider, I didnt pull over and write down the name of the trucking company and I didnt really want to sit on the side of the road with him waiting for the police to take a report so I could make his company pay.
Tom, I know right??!!!
After work today I rubbed one of the spots with my finger, it came off.
I was half thinking of letting it sit and ruin the paint and calling the insurance company and getting my truck repainted, but thats alot of work, and not right.
So a bucket full of soapy water it will be.

Its a shame that companies don't maintain semis and dumptrucks like they should. The condition of some of them is downright scary and they just keep on driving. I had a truck spray diesel fuel all over my s-10 after one of his tanks ruptured, moron just kep driving. Luckily for me it hit a few cars who all pulled over and a couple of them were able to get the info off the door.
Look on the bright side though, maybe some of that oil hit your hood release cable.

Well I drove truck for over 10 years, I went through 3 trucks in that time and logged over 1million miles in those trucks.
You can maintain your truck to the letter and stuff still breaks, it a machine and as we all know, machines break.
Maintenance and neglect are separated by a very thin line, there is a point where changing the oil to often wastes money and letting it go to long costs you money in break downs, tow bills and repairs.
If that truck is not moving it is not making money, trucks loose money when they are not moving.
I have been a professional driver for over 20 years, you need to know your equipment's limits and listen to her when she is talking to you.
And as far and a leaking fuel tank, how is the driver going to know? Did it make a noise? Inside the cab of a truck it is very loud and you cant hear much if anything.
