Default dash lights went out 95 i need help

So i just purchased a 1995 manual transmission discovery. It has 130k miles it was pretty beat up when i got her so i only paid $1900 for it then did a complete rehaul and fixed all the issues at our local land rover shop and installed a snow plow since the number one reason for this vehical was for plowing our big driveway in breckenridge colorado.

Well we just brought the vehicle home and after the first night my dashboard lights go out. I then check the fuse which was blown and replace it. The car runs good for a day then the dash goes back out. Please im new to the land rover scene but i think i will be learning a lot of stuff with this new toy of mine. Does anyone have any knowledge with this issue. Anything would help

Dunno, but Sounds like pinched wire or some kind of short. I'd start by checking the connections to the fuse block. They have been known to get loose/break/corrode

Next time check your rear running lights when the dash lights go out. If they also are out it's your stalk switch and connector overheating. "Classic" problem....lol.

My dash lights, rear lights, and warning chime that lights were in when key was removed didn't work. But the rear fog lights worked. It was the light switch on the stalk. I just posted how to rebuild in an earlier thread about light problems.

Yea it's a little weird because only one of my taillights went out and the dash is out. So it's starting to look like this could be a stalk issue which I will have to search the forums on how to fix this issue. I was thinking maybe it had to due with my snow plow connector being disconnected and getting snow in it and shorting the fuse out. I will definitely have to work on it in my next few days off.

I am a complete amateur, never attempted anything like it, and the first 1 took me under an hour. The second took me 20 minutes.

It's easy!

See this thread for the instructions:

Guess I'm gonna have to take a whack at this too. Every since it got just plain no-fun cold out, I have a heck of a time getting the dash lights and rear lights to go on when it's time for the 90 mile drive back from work to home. In the first position, parking lights and rear lights and dash lights come on just fine, but dash lights and rear lights go out when I click over one more notch to headlights-on. So far wiggling and jiggling has gotten it to work eventually and therefore have avoided the long arm of the law, in my town they love to stop for equipment issues and pretty much everything else, but the wiggling and jiggling is getting more creative and if it really only takes minimal effort ......

Here are some notes and pics for doing the wiper stalk, looks simliar inside in regard to the goop, slide switches, etc.

And a YouTube video to guide you on removing the light stalk from the steering column.
