Default Diagnosing SRS Code without access to testbook

Hi everyone!

I recently purchased an as-is 98 50th edition rover disco. The vehicle runs smooth, but will not pass safety inspection in my region due to it having an illuminated SRS warning light on the dash. My mechanic tried pulling the code using his scan tool, but was unable to get anything. In looking through the manuals, it seems the only way to diagnose this problem is through using a land rover proprietary Testbook tool. There are no rover dealerships anywhere near me, so accessing this tool is not possible (I believe). Does anyone know of any workarounds, or am I just SOL with this vehicle?

Someone with a Faultmate can do it (check with your local LR shops).

Otherwise, its probably the clock spring that has gone bad, and it is an easy swap.
