Default Diff lock question

I was testing out the diff lock yesterday and it seemed to go into lock. The light on the dash came on so I assume it was in lock. Is there any other way to test it or something to look for.

With it in lock make a slow sharp turn on pavement. You should be able to feel the difference.

Yeah, drive in circles. The outside wheels will be skidding. Not much good for the drivetrain though.

^^^^^^^^^^What they said.

Heres something to remember however and this is speaking from experience. WHEN you engage the Center Diff lock make sure you SLOWLY roll forward a little bit to ensure the Diff lock actually engages before you jump on the throttle. When I first got the rover I engaged it, light on dash lit up and then I kinda punched it(because i was already in some mud)........well it HADNT fully engaged and when I punched it there was a decent sized THUD as the transfer case locked up for the equall 50/50 split. It didnt break anything and everything works just fine but IT WASNT good for the drivetrain to be hit with a shock load like that.

Never.. and I mean NEVER engage CDL and "jump" on the throttle while on dry pavement. Unless of course you enjoy replacing vital drivetrain parts.

yeah right, this particular move ensures you get to pick any woman in the crowd watching and take her home.

There is another way, engage the CDL and then jack up on end of the truck and spin a wheel, if the prop shaft does not move then it locked, if it does then it is not locked.
