Oil filler cap gasket

Is this part of the original cap?

I guess between the cap and the engine where you put oil in. Seems like a problem if you need one and don't have one though.

changed my oil today and noticed i do have this...it's pushed up into the filler cap.

Same here. It's jammed so tight in the top of the cap it looks like part of the cap, but it's not.
