I have a 96 disco 5 speed, and last Sunday I got stuck in the snow I shifted to lock differential position the light came on. But my wheels were not turning at the same time. Any idea what could be wrong, where should I start looking?

Yeah thats normal, locking the center differential only locks the 2 driveshafts together so that equal power goes to each differential but what happens when it gets to the front and rear diff's is still upto those differentials.
In other words, all four wheels will not turn at the same time.
