Question disco 1

having problem with disco1 3.9 petrol , not stalling regularly, but after a while of driving runs rough and cuts off for about a second(a blip) and runs again properly after a while. can anyone tell me if this is related to the mass air flow and how i can test one

Not the MAF most likely (because of momentary nature). More likely Vehicle Speed Sensor. Or throttle position sensor. Or ignition related issue (amplifier for distributor). MAF very pricey, if you insist on cleaning it do so with a cleaner made for the purpose, and only when the engine is cold. A small wire inside is heated to 350F plus, so cold chemical spray can make it snap.

Might be non-carbon cutting exhaust valves. If stuck open will loose power, hesitate, rev stall.

Bad TPS (throttle position sensor), it is a common problem on DI's and is cheap to replace.
This usually happens when cruising at a constant speed, like on the motorway.

thanks guys for responding , savhana buzz you were right had nothing to do with the maf. i was checking all the wiring to coil and distributer ,when i found all was well there after you mentioned ignition i decided to check wiring upto ignition switch ,found when i shook the wires going to the ignition switch the engine stuttered .followed all the wires one by one and found the alarm system fitted before has a cut out switch which the wires were touching each other .got that sorted tested the car driving like a dream so far. thanks again all who responded

Post a pix of your truck in Kenya, many of us are arm chair adventurers who can only dream of such an exotic location.
