Default Disco 1 heater fan switch

About a year or so ago I replaced the heater fan as it had melted. now it is acting up again.I have a replacement switch, but it has been a might cold out and I would like some warmer weather to install the switch.

Anyone have any experience with adding some silicone grease or ?? to make the contacts last longer? I get tired of tearing the dash apart .

so far I can make the blower work by slipping a dime under the switch lever and jam the lever up a bit to make contact, but I doubt it will last long. moving the lever back and forth quickly worked for a bit too, but not any more.

No replies so I got the grandson to help and tore the dash apart and swapped out the switch with one I filled with silicone dielectric grease. Works for now and we shall see how long it lasts. Got just above 35 degrees out with the threat of more snow... Nice weather for April!

If you have any parts yards around you, find a DI or DII with rear air conditioning. The fan switch that is up in the headliner is exactly the same and almost always in perfect condition because no one ever uses them.
