Default Disco 2 drive shift to disco 1

New to the forum.
I have a chance to purchase a intact 2004 disco 2 for pretty cheap. Catch is not registered for a while so lots of money up front for that part if I want to get it on the road legally. The other part is when running it has a massive oil leak about 1/2 quart in about 5 of running. Previous owner didn't take care of it. I also have e a recently priced disco 1 in the area? I want to build it to a trail rig but can also be road worthy.
Can I use the disco 2 drive shafts on the disco one to help with issues on lifting past 2 inches.
Thank you for the help.

No not really. I've owned both the D1 and D2, they don't really share a lot of parts believe it or not.

The original drive shafts on the D2 honestly belong in the trash. The front one always goes bad and the rear one uses the same flex joint as some of the D1s so not really ideal for a lift.

If you want good shafts for a lift, replace the rear one with a U joint shaft (about $200 new) and the front ones are usually fine for around 2" of lift. For a D2, you'll want to at least replace the front one no matter what, the rear one if your going to lift it high.

If you're going to go bigger than 2", I would get custom shafts from a drive shaft shop or Tom Woods.

But you'll be surprised what these can do without a lift, or even just 2".

Like above I really wouldn't use a stock disco II front shaft but it can be done you have to swap the shaft and the output flange from the transfer case

If you want to do this I have plenty of front output flanges from DII's available for the swap.
