looks sweet. i need to put a new rad in my rover. what is the manufacture of that? ill be looking into a a new one VERY soon.

 

When you do the install please take pics and do a write up and relay any issues, or lack of, regarding quality, fit, any differences, etc. It would be greatly appreciated.

+1 on the write up! I went to blow out the fuzz on the back of my radiator, and the little fins blew away like dust!

Ill be pulling motor tonight replacing flexplate and should have it all working tomorrow morning. Ill post pics etc.

 

So...someone built a modern type of radiator for our old beast.

These types should provide years of service. But, I am not a big fan of plastic end caps and tubes. From experience, the plastic gets thin and brittle. Also, you can also get some end tank separation.

Just make sure you use new clamps, do not over tighten, and that the hoses are in good nick. Most importantly, you must consistently service the coolant and use a water temp reducer to help with longevity.

 

Also, to keep the fins perfect when installing, tape cardboard, covering the fin surface area. This will let you handle the radiator without folding in any of the fins....

 

I have seen volvo thin *** radiator end caps seperate etc. judging by the molding of the end caps and reinforcments used to handle the bolt on upper and lower plates its seems extemely strong.

SInce the caps are not only pressed but bolted together I imagine this may help.

 

I didn't notice that at first...I see someone did some homework. Looks like the slots are in the right place for the shroud clips.

Also, there are holes for a future e-fan upgrade.....hummm....very interesting...

 

I just did an install of one of these for a customer to replace the aftermarket
(Proline I think?) he purchashed a year ago and had nothing but problems with.
It was a Nissens Radiator and purchased from Rovers North..
It fit perfect. No problems with cooler lines, hoses, or fan shroud.
Don't forget to replace the 4 oil and engine cooler line orings ESR1594L
