Unhappy Discovery 1 Dying

Hi All
I tried to start this thread yesterday but unfortunately placed it in the wrong section and now i can't find the thread..Dhoo LOL
I own a Discovery 1, 1995, V8 3.9lt, with 125k on the clock. She is a beauty and happily tows boats around Europe all day for me. She runs on petrol and LPG.
Any way my problem is this, she will start great first turn of the key but after running for approximately 20 minutes she will just Die, stop for no apparent reason. If i wait for a further 20 minutes she will restart and run for another 20 mins then stop again and so on.
I have so far changed for new the following, Distributor, Coil, Amplifier (including heat sink paste etc) Ht leads, Spark plugs and a new Air meter as well.
Yesterday a chap very kindly informed me that the Charcoal canister may be at fault, sir if you see this please reply again as i am intrigued regarding this option.
If anyone has any other ideas, the smallest piece of information will be most welcome right now.
Kind regards
Tony

Default Fuel issue

Hi Calebbo
I will change the fuel filter as a matter of course this weekend but i had initially discounted fuel problems as it happens whether i am running on petrol or LPG.
The main effect this has is to cancel the LT electrical side so no power goes to the Coil when it stops, I was wondering if there is a sensor i obviously don't know about somewhere?

Maybe a circuit breaker is tripping, the resetting after it cools down or the inertia switch under the bonnet?

I find the dual fuel (petrol and Liquid Propane) very interesting option.

Very few of us have such.

Anytime a system has been modified, you introduce other variables that may impact your vehicles operation. As such, that would be oe of the first areas to investigate.

Good luck with your problem.

And if you should happen to encounter the fellow from London with his Freelander, pass along a kind Cherrio to him from me.

Chris-Bob:

What circuit breakers are there in a Discovery. I would agree that it could be some type of component overheat and then working again, but I am unaware of any CB's in a DI.

Have you replaced/checked the Crank Position Sensor? That is the common cause to your symptoms on our D2's. When the sensor is on it's way out, it craps itself when it heats up and shuts off the Truck. Next time it happens try pouring water on the sensor (when the truck is off of course) to help cool it down quicker and see if it starts up.

Not sure...I was trying to get RAVE to pull up, but for some reason it won't open for me today.

edit:Okay, got RAVE up, no breakers. Just fuses. Had to check.

Wow cheers guys keep it coming LOL
I have had the gas system checked out and all is ok with that, my first thought was that the injector simulator was packing in but no.
I don't have a crank sensor on the 1995 v8 3.9, but thanks for trying. At the same time, interestingly i cant find the ECU and i am beginning to think it doesn't have one as such, i have found a bunch of contactors/relays etc in the drivers side foot well, side panel. I have checked these and they seem to operate properly.

The LPG is an absolute must here in Europe especially in the UK. Petrol is now £6.50 a gallon that about $10 to you guys. LPG is less than half of that and with the amount of miles i do, i couldn't do without it :-)
