Discovery 1 Instrument and switch illumination
Ok I cant seem to find a good thread on the instrument lighting on Discovery 1 so i am starting one here.
My first posts is the replacement of the light bulbs in the switches. I will put in a link to a supplier as soon as I can find one.
OK three pics on removal and replacement of light bulbs in a switch . remove the switch according to manual or threads everywhere on this forum. The heater ones are the hardest.
I don't like links because they change and you may click on this one and it will take you nowhere. This one was current 2013 Discovery 1 Switches & Controls - Dash Panel Switches at www.rimmerbros.co.uk

I would point out that you can buy these small bulbs in lots of 100 for under $20 US, members have posted about it. That said, I like the LEDs I installed for dome lights and cargo light.
Also look at this vendor - LED Lights, Bulbs & Accessories - SUPER BRIGHT LEDS

Instrument led conversion
I recently purchased a 10 piece of small led with holder from eBay for $2.35 CDN. Went to change out some lights and realized the bases where to big to fit in the switches. I then simply dismantle the old broken bulb from the base of the switches bulb and disassembled the the led from the larger holder and reassemble the led to the small switch base. A bit time consuming but switches are led now. Btw the green bulbs are merely a green rubber “condom” over the regular bulbs to illuminate green. Reused the “condom” on the LED bulbs conversion.
