Do I really need a $50.00 wrench to do this?

Okay, just got my new water pump & viscous and was looking at the RAVE manual before I got going. It shows a wrench that in looking costs $50.00. Anyone have a secret to get these two pieces together without spending the money for a wrench?

go to your local auto parts store and borrow or rent theirs. The O'Reilly and Advance near me do this.

big crescent wrench, or the rental one. AND a hammer. Stand in front of truck. Face engine. Hit wrench sharply on the right side, moving it toward your left. Wrench needs to be popped sharply, not a love pat, and not slow and steady.

I had the local muffler shop remove mine, $10 cash, took them 2min and then I drove it home with no clutch fan.

Could have made a tool that you'd have forever or $10. Either go the way in the video and grind a combination wrench, or get a piece of 1/4"x3" flat stock and cut a notch out of the end.

Yeah but once it was removed I can take it off myself with a crescent wrench.
I take it off every winter and put it back on in the spring.
