**DISCLAIMER*** - This is NOT intended to spark debate or hijack this thread... just answering a question about my OPINION...

From What I've seen, heard, experienced, wrenched and read... I base this opinion. Fewer block casting issues, fewer sensors, no ecu for ignition, cooling system routing, MAF, 14 CUX vs. Gems or even Motronic is simpler in programming and design so theroetically less prone to failure, Location of ECU's (inside cabin and up high), windshield wiper arms, CDL...

AND i like my door handles better...

Simpler the better in my opinion. Also no emisssions requirements like my 97 has here in PA. 96 and earlier are exempt here.

Update.....Today I visited the 95 Disco with a newer battery in hand and same result...tick.tick. So my next plan will be to get her in a dry place(5 inches of snow), check and clean ground cables. This gave me another chance to go over her again visually. The truck is in very nice clean condition for a 95, only blemish is the driver seat(leather)has some of the colour worn off and one small area where the stitching has come apart.
My concern is still 234,000kms (146,000miles). Normally I would never look at used vehicle with that mileage, but the condition and history and price is making it very tempting. My wife has always like the look of Discovery's, which helps big time!
I see that a lot of you have higher mile Discos which helps settle some of my concerns.
Question:
These trucks have that reputation for head gasket problems...Why? Bad heads, bad gaskets, bad maintenance?

Cheers

These trucks have the reputation for bad headgaskets because they tend to blow headgaskets.
It happens less often on a DI than a DII but it still does happen.
