Default dongle me this!

just downloaded the free bluedriver app for my iphone4s,looks pretty cool and displays coolant temp gauge, went on e-bay to buy a obd2 wifi dongle and i see the elm327 in various forms but when i plug in compatability for 97 D1 it says no,will this work? and display coolant temp [made the mistake of buying an can ms309 code reader and it doesn't display temp and don't want to make same mistake twice!]

I don't believe iphone 4 will be compatible with the Bluetooth dongles. You will need to purchase a wifi dongle.

Amazon has them.

Not sure if you phone will be able to feed the stereo via bluetooth and the read the dongle via wifi simultaneously.

Each dongle is a little different as well. Not sure about yours.

I use an app called "OBD Fusion" which is well worth the $10 from the Apple app store

Between the dongle and the app you're talking about $30. It will save you hundreds in parts, time, and frustration.

Yes. ELM327 (wifi) + OBD Fusion app is what I use.

just got elm327 wifi obd2 and attached, iphone picked up connection and green check is on,using bluedriver app ,when I open ect gauge it shows 190deg which is my t-stat temp, doesn't really change and it does say Bluetooth not connected,in settings I do have the car kit connected and other devices doesn't pick up elm, questions are why doesn't the wifi connection seem to show live data and shouldn't that be all I need, appreciate any imput
