Default Driveshaft Coupling........

Well I've noticed a vibration a couple weeks ago and figured the u-joints needed to be replaced. So I rolled under there today and noticed the rear driveshaft rubber coupler is tearing apart. The truck is only lifted 2" or so and hasn't been taken off-road that I know off. The rear shocks need to be replaced though. It has a little over 172k miles on it now. Is this normal wear or due to another problem? Is there a better replacement or is a stock replacement the only option?

Here's a few pics........... They are a little blurry, guess I got to close.

The roto-flex does fail over time. The good thing is you can still drive with it like that for a while before it completely fails. Your 2 options are another roto-flex or swap to a u-joint instead. The conversion to u-joint requires a lot more work and a new driveshaft. With only 2" of lift you'd be fine sticking with the roto-flex.
