Default Driving w/o Oxygen sensors

I just recently replaced my catalytic converter on 1998 Disco. When it came time to insert 02 sensors, I discovered the holes were to big for 02 sensors.

Anyway, rather than taking the new Cat. back off and re-ordering another Cat. I decided to order adapters instead, so I will be able to properly thread my 02 sensors. By the way, the manufacturer sent me the right part but the holes were to big.

All this blabbering just to know if it is safe to drive vehicle without the sensors properly screwed in?
