Default Engine check light

Hi Guys,
I've recently started getting a "check engine" light when I start my engine once warm, and I seem to lose power. (UK spec 300TDI)
I've checked all the fluids and electrical connectors under the hood but can't seem to locate the source.

Any advice much appreciated.

Darren

Over here in the US, the large national brand auto parts stores will read your codes for free (because they want to sell you the parts). Some code readers interpret the codes and provide a generic "guess" of what it means, but it is always best to check the RAVE tech manual documents. Most of us on this side of the pond are v-8 gas, at a whopping 12 - 15 miles per gallon.

Neede to get those codes read before you do anything else.

Thanks guys, unfortunately the thieving so and so's that are parts stores over here charge between £50-80 just for reading the code....
Not to worry, I'm hoping within 12 months to be residing on your side of the pond, thus will be asking ever more questions on NAS land rovers

Might look into code readers, scanners, etc. Some are affairs that plug into the port and signal your smart phone or PC. Some, like Ultra Gauge, do lots of things plus act as a scanner. Might want to inquire about shipping a diesel over here well in advance.

Surely there is a club or some fellow Rover-lover's nearby that has a acanner or code reader...? There may be someone even on this forum near to you. Perhaps rename your thread with U.K. in the title.

Off topic but yes, check on what it will take to import your deisel here. I don't believe it will be on their list of approved vehicles based on our federal emissions standards. Good luck!

Don't let a check engine light go, it will just continue to cost you more and more as you put it off.

usually you can buy USB code readers to plug into your laptop for about $75-80.

ive got one called OBDcom (i think) that works really well, has gauges and things you can bring up, you can log data, read codes, etc... and it cost under $100.

probably paid for itself 100x over by now.

I wouldn't be importing my motor... definitely not.
The Mrs is demanding a 2011 camaro...

I'll be keeping my eyes open for a Disco though

Too bad, the sound of that diesel rattling down the trail would sure be different. Plus the look on people's face when you go for the green nozzle at the pump would be worth it! Plenty of good LR's here to choose from (depending on where you settle).

Oh and the 2011 Camaro is a rocketship!
