Finally Went off Road
Funniest thing I saw on the trail in a long time: I was on a trail outside of Ouray a couple yrs ago and some guy ahead of me in a Toyota Echo (the smallest car they made at the time) was trying to make it through a rock bed going up-hill. It was a pretty new car too. Shouldn't have even been on the trail. It must have had 13" tires that were wafer thin. He couldn't make it but insisted on proceeding, so he and I spent 10 or 15 minutes moving and stacking rocks this way and that so he could make it through. I wasn't sure why because I warned him there were more obstacles just ahead that he wouldn't likely be able to go through. Once we got done, I expected him to gently crawl over them, which would have been pretty easy. So what's he do? He backs way up and guns it as fast as he can, going about 20 mph or so, hits a bolder, the car bounces off to the side (setting him off course of the rocks we just laid out), plastic flies this way and that, his rim gets bent pretty bad and he chews up his tire spinning it like crazy to get through. A lot of metal on metal and rock scraping. My wife and I looked at each other in disbelief why he would do such a thing when he could have just crawled over w/o incident. He surveys the damage then races about a 1/2 mile or so where the next rocks were (bigger this time) and returns back down the trail, rim wobbling, front bumper cover flailing. He gave me some sort of victory sign, a big grin and kept going. I picked up the plastic off the trail and we crawled over the rocks no problem. Some people just don't have a clue. But it was funny to see someone ELSE wreck their car.

HAHAHA I wouldve almost paid money to see someone tear up there car like that......Some people just have no sence on that kinda stuff
Good thing you got the overheating issue resolved first. A well functioning Disco is a blast off-road. If your is old and sagging like mine was, you may want to look at new springs and shocks. That along with a working CDL will get you places that will surprise most people.
I can say on visor on mine theres all the factory/stock measurements. If I was close to it id get a pic or at least the specs on it but thats not gonna happen for a couple days.
When we put the new springs and ES9000 plus 2 inch shocks on mine, Rob took a tape measure and measured from the Ground to the top of the wheel well and the distance from the center of the wheel to the top of the wheel well before changing anything.
When we were finished, he repeated the measurements and the difference was incredible, however I don't remember the exact numbers.
My biggest difference was before the new springs and shocks I had to jack the vehicle up to get under it. Now I can go from side to side, front to back on my creeper without lifting the vehicle. I am 6ft and 275lbs. I can almost skateboard under it on my new low profile heavy duty creeper.
Also there is a noticable difference stepping up into the vehicle when climbing in. It used to sit much lower. I was even asked by another Disco Owner if I had lowered mine. Major difference off-road with the new springs and shocks and a working CDL that was not working first time.
