Sounds good. Will drive to the autoparts store now... should give me, at minimum another operating cycle towards completing the readiness of my Cat system. Speaking of which - are the O2 systems included in the CAT system readiness indicator?

The O2s play a significant part in the supervison of the funtioning of the CATs. If you have a GEMS D1, there is a tech quide in my signature that has more info on how that works and makes codes, etc.

Thanks. I had read the GEMS document in your signature - I am just curious if the "readiness test" not complete for CATS means that the O2 sensor codes have not had time to get shown if they were not operating properly or if they would have shown up by now (and its just CAT specific codes that have not yet been complete).

Regarding the MAF cleaning - do I need to take it out of the plastic casing it is inside or just spray in the hole on either side?

Dude, dont think so hard, this isin't high school.
Take the MAF out of the truck, clean it, put it back.
Takes 5min.

The smell of the fumes from the MAF cleaner is making me not think so hard so thats good. Regarding the metal screen - do I need to somehow remove that to get the spray right in there? I can't see how ...

here's some ideas and pix -

for D1 (GEMS) - http://www.rangerovers.net/forum/7-r...nsor-pics.html

For D2 - Discovery 2: MAF cleaning instructions - 4x4 Community Forum

But safest to just spray without taking any really small parts out, use the whole can, do it like two - three times - every angle. I am not a fan of touching the delicate parts of the MAF.

I was so happy to snag one at the salvage yard one day for about $30, and have it on the spares shelf.

Plugged the cleaned MAF in this morning - truck seemed to start and run a little smoother but I am not sure if that is just because I want to think I did something worth while or not.

However, the MIL went off! Don't know if this is just because the MAF was unplugged overnight and it somehow reset or if I actually fixed something.

Scanned the codes again, the original code is still there but I am thinking I would just need to clear it ... since the MIL went off it should be okay?

Still waiting on the CAT system to finish its cycle ....

More likely that code is one of those that has to occur on more than one drive cycle before it turns on CEL. It is waiting for you, waiting to drain your wallet, waiting to cut your last nerve, waiting to convert all the fun of the Rover experience to eternal toolbox toting. But I hope not after you clear it.
