First long trip in my D1
I think i have everything sorted out in the truck and she is running great. with in the past couple weeks i did the 6ok mile service as posted in the tech sticky.
i will be driving from New Orleans to Detroit roughly 1100 mile one way in my 96 D1. I know it seems crazy but it needs to make the trip sooner or later about once every other month or so. Its where i split my time between
My question is what odds and ends should i bring along with me besides my standard tools, oil, water, trans fluid, gear oil?
Now my route never takes me farther than 2 hours away from a friend or family member in case i need a rescue or a place to fix something major.
Would like to hear your thoughts and suggestions
Thank you in advance

If it is sorted out, it should be a good trip or at least you will see any hidden gremlins expose themselves.
A couple of things come to mind such as the hoses and the serp belt. If going on an extended trip like that, I would want new ones on it.
Do you have an ultraguage or similar live readout device so you can better monitor things lke the operating temps and be able to troubleshoot if you do have a problem.
Have a copy of the RAVE available while on the road? Laptop or whatever.
I once suggested that members could do an informal network sort of a map type thing with contact data in case one of us was traveling and found themselves in a bad situation while on the road. However, that never came into fruition.
Do you have AAA coverage. If you do break down and need to be picked up, you will want a flatbed not be towed with the wheels on the ground.
Since you're going to Detroit, maybe a good weapon or two. If not a gun, at least keep a ball peen hammer in easy reach. The reason I say a Ball Peen Hammer is that I learned that Hells Angels regularly carry them as they are not technically considered a weapon and can be quite handy when needed in an emergency situation.

new belt and all new hoses were installed over the past couple weeks with the old ones which have not failed yet in a rubbermaid in the back of the truck to get me out of a tight pinch.
I have the RAVE on my tablet and AAA coverage.
THere is always something that pops up was just trying to get ahead of it if possible
Also, I would replace the bearing on your Tensioner Pulley. NAPA part #6203-2RSJ, about $11. I've seen bearings fail, the pulley wheel explode, and shrapnel blow holes in the oil filter and shred the serp belt. A lot of people forget about the Tensioner Pulley when catching their truck up on maintenance.
Honestly, carry a used alternator, or put a new one on and carry your old as a spare.
Most autoparts stores do not carry them in stock and can take 3 days to get one in.
I had mine go out a few years ago on my trip to Dallas, I had a spare and changed it in a parking lot with a $10 socket set and my Swiss Army knife.
2500 miles in 3 days, only burned gas and killed one alternator that was already on its way out and I was to lazy to change it before hand. (actually I just wanted to add to the adventure
)

Or if you blow a motor mount, you can ratchet it down to the frame.
